Who May Enter?

To be eligible to apply, applicants must:

  • Applicants must hold an offer to study on a WMG Full-time MSc course starting October 2020.
  • Applicants should have an excellent academic track record and/or strong professional profile in order to qualify.
  • For conditional offer-holders, scholarship awards will also be conditional on achieving the awardee’s final predicted grade.
  • WMG Excellence Scholarships are for self-funded students only. NB: students with partial bursaries on scholarship-loan schemes or partially funded by an external organization may also be considered. Awardees should inform the scholarship committee if they are in receipt of another scholarship or are later awarded other funding.
  • WMG Excellence Scholarships are awarded for study on UK full-time MSc programmes only.
  • WMG Excellence Scholarships are paid towards tuition fees only and cannot be paid in cash or towards accommodation or maintenance costs.
  • WMG will award WMG Excellence Scholarships across all WMG full-time MSc programmes to optimize nationality and gender diversity.

Note: Applicants must have been accepted onto one of WMG full-time MSc courses before applying for a scholarship. The application is only for offer holders of WMG full-time MSc programmes in the UK, starting studies in October 2020.

Awards Description:

  • WMG will be awarding over £750,000 in scholarships and bursaries to students commencing study on full-time MSc programmes taught within the WMG department at Warwick, beginning in October 2020.
  • WMG Excellence Scholarships are awarded on a % discount of the tuition fees, with awards ranging from 10% to 50% tuition fee discount.
  • Applications will be judged on past academic achievement, professional experience, reasons for study, and your vision for the future.

UK Department for International Development (DFID) is pleased to offer Commonwealth Split-site Scholarships for Low and Middle-Income Countries.

These PhD fellowships are available for international candidates from low and middle-income Commonwealth countries, to spend up to 12 months at a UK university as part of their doctoral studies in their home country.

Commonwealth Split-site Scholarships, funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID), enable talented and motivated individuals to gain the knowledge and skills required for sustainable development, and are aimed at those who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK.

Provided By: The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) provides the main UK government scholarship scheme led by international development objectives. The CSC is an executive non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Department for International Development (DFID).

  • Citizens of developing Commonwealth countries (Antigua and Barbuda, Bangladesh, Belize, Botswana, Cameroon, Dominica, Eswatini, Fiji, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Mauritius, Montserrat, Mozambique, Namibia, Nauru, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, St Helena, St Lucia, St Vincent, and the Grenadines, Samoa, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, The Gambia, Tonga, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Zambia) can apply for these fellowships.
  • Applicants who are citizens of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person
  • 12 months of study at a UK university as part of an applicant’s doctoral studies in their home country, starting in October 2020
  • Applicants who are registered (or will be registered by September 2020) for a PhD at a university in an eligible Commonwealth country
  • Study at a UK university with which your home university has an established institutional or departmental link.
  • Study at a UK university which has a part funding agreement with the CSC

Application Procedure:

To participate, you must make your application directly to the CSC using CSC’s online application system.  One application per applicant for these financial aid positions will be accepted.

Required Documents: Your application must include the following supporting documentation:

  • Proof of citizenship or refugee status: a copy of your valid passport (or national ID card) showing your photograph, date of birth, and country of citizenship or refugee status– uploaded to the online application system
  • Full transcripts detailing all your higher education qualifications (with certified translations if not in English) – uploaded to the online application system
  • Supporting statement from your supervisor at your home country university, highlighting current institutional links submitted directly by your supervisor to the online application system (supervisors will be sent an email request).
  • Supporting statements from your proposed supervisor at a UK university, highlighting current institutional links submitted directly by your supervisor to the online application system (supervisors will be sent an email request).
  • Reference from at least one other individual – submitted directly by the referee to the online application system (referees will be sent an email request)
